It’s almost 44 years since I first heard Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run. Back in 1975, I lived in Glasgow and one morning, I woke up to this song being played on the Noel Edmonds’ Breakfast Show – a cult radio programme back in the 70s. I can’t explain why this song had such an impact on me, especially as I had no real idea who Bruce Springsteen was, or where he came from, or any of the things that are connected in some way with his music; but the melodic hooks in that song found their way into my soul and have remained there ever since.
Fast forward to December 1995 when I went to New Jersey for the very first time with 58 like-minded others from Badlands, the UK Bruce Springsteen Fan Club. We stayed at the Berkeley Carteret Hotel in downtown Asbury Park, and I will never forget how it felt to suddenly find myself surrounded by places and names that I had been carrying around inside my head for over 20 years, and watch them come to life. It was an awesome experience; and as we drove down Kingsley and saw the Palace quite literally rising bold and stark at the end of the street, it was just as I had always imagined it would be.
Since then, I feel like I have been on an incredible journey of discovery and have been back to the Shore many times. I still find it a magical place in terms of places to see and great sounds to hear… I mean, where else in the world can you walk into a bar and be entertained by someone of Bobby Bandiera’s caliber for the best part of four hours – for FREE? Or buy an ice-cream at a place called “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out”?? Yes, this is a place that really does exist in Belmar!
Over the years, I’ve also been fortunate enough to have had a lot of my work published in many prominent Bruce Springsteen fan magazines including:
Backstreets (USA) Point Blank (Spain) Roulette (Holland) The Stone Pony (Spain) The Ties That Bind (UK) The Wish (Germany) Thunder Road (Belgium)
In addition, Powerplay Magazine in the UK has also featured some of my articles, as have the following Websites:

As for this Website… you are looking at a product of the Kaybee Cyber Academy – thanks Klaus, I couldn’t have done this without your IT expertise!
OK, I think that’s enough from me, except to say… I hope you enjoy reading about some of the things/bands/musicians that have inspired me to write about them.
And hey, thanks for stopping by!
Love, Maggie
