Longtime Jukes saxophone player, Joey Stann, launched his début album, Family Tree, at Jukestock – three days of Peace, Love and Jukes that took place at the Holiday Inn, Tinton Falls, New Jersey from 2 – 4 March, 2001. Comprising ten excellent tracks, eight are Joey’s original work and they have a totally refreshing sound that is a mixture of rock, swing, vocal as well as instrumental compositions.
Arranged by Joey, the CD features his wonderful trademark saxophone solos as well as some rollicking guitar licks from fellow Juke, Bobby Bandiera, whose versatile fret board skills can be heard throughout the album. In addition, you’ll hear the sensational vocal talents of Gary U. S. Bonds who appears on the title track. Family Tree is an exceptional release from Joey and a must-have for fans of big-band-sounding-good-time-party music.
Joey’s CD is available at Jukes shows and through the Website store on the official Southside Johnny website.
ABOUT JOEY STANN:
Joey Stann joined the Asbury Jukes in 1980 and began recording albums with the band one year later. When he’s not playing with the Jukes, you’ll more than likely be able to catch Joey playing regularly with either Gary U S Bonds’ or Bobby Bandiera’s bands.
Recording acclaim for Joey includes appearing on albums by artists like Gary U S Bonds as well as on the One Step Up, Two Steps Back tribute album to Bruce Springsteen’s music. Joey’s saxophone talents can also be heard on the brand new King Biscuit Flower Hour CD that was recorded during Gary U S Bonds’ show at the legendary Stone Pony at the end of November 2000 and which is available from Amazon.
